I have to tell you something

I’m soooo busy at the moment and I think it’s about time I shared this with you as I kind of feel I’m leading a double life…

LOL I know what it sounds like… read on!!

The thing is… a few months ago I started selling my handmade creations, on Facebook and Etsy. I didn’t want to share it on here because I didn’t want things to change – I don’t want my lovely loyal readers to look at me differently and I don’t want to try to sell you anything!! So I do want to keep it separate, but feel like I should just tell you all, because I want to explain why I don’t post as often as I used to.

I’m a bit shy now, haha! I’m selling girl’s clothing and accessories, and my business is called Pink Bobbins. Surprise!!

So I haven’t posted lessΒ because I’ve stopped sewing (far from it). I just don’t sew for myself so much (erm, for ages!) now. And as I said, I don’t want this blog to be all “I made this and I’m selling it” – this blog is about ME!!

I’m not really sure why I decided to sell stuff – one dayΒ I just did it. And now it’s actually going really well, I’m snowed under at the moment in the run up to Christmas…. so I’m guessing there’s no going back (at least for the time being) so I’d better give in and tell you!!

I’m also still teaching dressmaking, I’m studying for a teaching qualification, and I’m also studying Foundation Journalism. Oh and I’m looking after my girls and all the usual stuff of course. So assignmentΒ deadlines are looming, my order book requires attention, and I’m trying not to neglect my children…. sewing for myself and blogging comes last! 😦

I do haveΒ several plans of clothing to make for myself, but I just don’t have the time to do it!! I am enjoying my little business but I do want to do a bit of selfish sewing soon!!

Of course I am blogging for Simple Sew patterns; I will be posting some tutorials when their new patterns and website launches soon….Β  I think I’m going to be in Love Sewing magazine this month so look out for me! (Only a little pic!)

I have a Seamwork Oslo all cut out and ready to sew… I need to finish my Simple Sew Tea Dress (I didn’t have enough fabric for the skirt part so it’s sitting waiting for some!)… I have some sewing-themed fabric (you’ve probably seen it around) ready to be sewn into a Clemence…. I have so much other dressmaking fabric (including those lovely Liberty pieces, and the beautiful floral cotton I won from Jane’s giveaway), I want to make things and share it with you but we just have to be patient!!

untitled^^ The fabric I won πŸ™‚ ^^

That’s enough of me rambling now – just thought I’d get that out there.Β Give yourself a pat on the back if you read it allΒ – you’re now updated on my life!

If you’re feeling nosey (curious!) now you can check my page out on Facebook, www.facebook.com/PinkBobbins πŸ˜€ You’ll see I have been very busy!!

  1. Well done Beth this is amazing news! Although I’m going to be a bit selfish and say I miss your regular posts ☺️
I wish I had a talent like yours you always make such flawless things! Good luck with it and with uni. I’m doing a degree in English language alongside the rest of life so I know what it’s like when the blog doesn’t get a look in! X

    • Thank you so much! And thanks for making up now lol I haven’t seen a post from you for ages… Time mixed with the WordPress app playing up when I do go on it the blogs don’t load :/ good luck with your degree! X

  2. Just catching up on blogs – I’ve well and truly fallen off the blogging wagon recently – and wanted to say well done you for all that you manage to cram in. Very inspiring! I’m about to have my 2nd baby and am hoping to be able to create some sort of craft/selling/be paid to do what I love venture so that, this time next year, I don’t have to return to work!

    • Oh congratulations!! Thank you! I’m also dreadful at reading blogs atm… There’s only so much time in the day! A lot of people seem to start something up on maternity leave! Hehe. Good luck!! And happy new year πŸ˜€

Good luck with your business – just been browsing your FB page, everything’s so lovely. I’ll certainly share it with my oaks too. And I’m with the rest of ’em – don’t be shy, add a link to your side bar πŸ˜ƒ

  5. Ha! I knew you were up to something! πŸ˜‰ I’m glad to hear the shop is successful, though it does sound like you’ve got your hands quite full. I sure do understand wanting your blog to just be fun stuff–we’ve all seen blogs that turn into all-selling-all-the-time. I hope you’ll find a balance to all this that works for you and keeps your stress level manageable!

  6. Well done, it all looks fantastic! So that’s where you’ve been – you’ve been missed. Why not share the things you make on your blog? I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love to see what you’re making.

Great to hear it’s going well too, I had a peep and your items are gorgeous, the Santa dress has to be my favourite πŸ™‚ The thought of starting an etsy shop is in the back of mind but I’m not still not sure! Take care, it will be great to hear from you whenever you get a minute to blog x

  9. Your title worried me too! This is SO exciting! I’ve often thought about making stuff to sell but the day job has always got in the way. It sounds like it is already doing well which is fantastic. You should definitely have the link in your sidebar. Really glad you liked the fabric and I hope you get time to make something just for you before too long. x

    • Thanks Jane. It’s really rewarding but SO time consuming! Perhaps you will take the plunge one day πŸ™‚ I will definitely use the fabric soon!! I haven’t decided on a pattern yet but probably a skirt… Although there’s more of it than I was expecting! πŸ˜€ x

  10. How exciting! Congrats and good luck with the shop side of things have popped over to follow both on fb and etsy πŸ™‚ It is quite difficult to balance everything but you’re doing well! And def agree with adding an etsy link on blog and blogging bout creations (it’s still stuff you make!)

  11. How exciting that your new venture is going well! I think it’s counts as your third life; mother, career woman, and now entrepreneur! I appreciate that you want to share not sell, very much, but I agree with your other readers that a sidebar is not intrusive.

  12. Congrats on the new business! Personally I’d love to hear more on the blog about it. I agree with Tialys above- you should definitely add sidebars with links to your shop and FB page(link didn’t work for me either). Good Luck!

  13. Good luck with your venture. You could always put a link to your shop in your sidebar – that way. people can look if they want to. Your FB link doesn’t seem to work at the moment btw.
