I made this about a month ago… grabbing a few minutes now to share it with you all!
My first 100% overlocked (oh except the hems of course) project. The Seamwork Oslo!
I actually bought this knit (I think it’s acrylic – uber stretchy) last year, with a slouchy cardigan in mind. The Seamwork Oslo fits the brief perfectly!
Sorry the photos are rubbish, S wasn’t very willing! And we took them at the same time as the photos for my pleated skirt so the outfit is rather mismatch – I wear it with jeans really!!
Oh it’s so nice, such a good cardi to just throw on. It’s actually the kind of thing that I’d buy from the High Street so I think I get a bonus point for that!
The fabric is relatively light and slinky – but warm enough at the same time. Yay!
I didn’t bother with buttons, but I can wrap it right round me if I want to (which I often do!)
Flashing the inners… all overlocked. Oh my goodness isn’t the overlocker so fast! I whizzed it up in no time at all.
But I totally messed up the sleeve cuffs. I don’t know how it even happened but they ended up so big, like they had stretched – but the thing is the pattern piece was too big to fit to begin with, so they were bound to be a bit… Not sure what happened there but I just left it anyway – I tend to pull the sleeves down round my hands anyway, so it gives me some more sleeve to hold onto – LOL!
But overall yeah I’m really happy with it – and I have been wearing it a lot! If you have the pattern sitting waiting… sew it up already! 🙂

Long sleeves like that can be useful if you make a hole along the seam for the thumb; then you have gloves and jumper in one.

Might just do that!

Oh, the joys of over locking! It really does make you feel proud when you look at what you’ve made!

Great cardi, perfect for these cold days. I like the sleeves being long so your hands can hide from the cold inside!

Thank you. I see my 6 year old pulling her sleeves over her hands a lot, too – she’s just like me!

Every girl needs at least one Oslo! Love your version! I ended up not having cuffs on mine as the fabric was too heavy. 😀

True! I can understand that, with the cuffs on they do pull the sleeves down a bit. You were the one who inspired me to make an Oslo!

Very cosy and the fabric looks wonderful and soft. I always have that problem with the cuffs but like you I welcome longer sleeves that can function as glove too haha!

It is wonderful and soft 🙂 Yay glad I’m not the only one… I have no use for 3/4 length sleeves!!

A nice, light layer like that in a neutral color is so nice to have in the winter! Looks so cozy!

This looks like the perfect wardrobe staple – not surprised you’re wearing it loads! I was bought a chunky cream cardigan at Christmas and have worn it pretty at some point every day since. Still don’t think I can justify an overlocker but seeing makes like this definitely tempt me!

Oh I wouldn’t blame you, that sounds right up my street! Ah you can still make it on a normal machine, it does take a lot to justify it lol!

Love the color! I just received a serger for Christmas, and I might just have to tape together my (already printed!) Oslo pattern and whip up a couple of cardigans. 😀

Ooh I think that’d be a very good idea indeed! Something like this is a really good starter project because the fit isn’t really an issue 🙂

Well done with your Overlocker. As for the sleeves, just call it a boyfriend cardigan and nobody will know they weren’t meant to be like that.

Good idea. They were totally meant to be like that. Part of the design!

Perfect project for the overlocker and it would be pretty quick and pain free to shorten the sleeves and reattach the cuffs, wouldn’t it? If not, you could always create a thumb hole to make it seem as if they were always meant to be that long:)

You speak such sense. That’d be the obvious thing to do! Although I do like long sleeves, my hands are always cold, so I’m quite happy!
